What a Day!

It was almost nonexistent!

I feel like such a loser! I looked and looked inside and out for a creature to catch and play with, but I couldn’t find one.

Wooly never wants to play–just bite.

Kasha likes to play with me, but mom won’t let us play rough. What fun is that?

Hilde is so huge that when she plays with me she just bowls me over with her giant paws.

Misty is too old to play.

Samantha likes to play with me sometimes, but not today.

Candy is so small that I’m afraid I will hurt her. So where does all of this non-playing leave me?

I guess I will just play with my flashing red ball or flashing red/black barbell. They’re okay, but I get tired of entertaining myself. Mom doesn’t feel like playing either, so I guess I will just keep on throwing my toys off the bed and retrieving them and then doing it again and again and again ad nauseum.

I caught it outside!

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

I was after a mouse in our house when mom said “last call to go outside.” I couldn’t pass up that opportunity–the morning is a night away. So I went with mom and the others.

I may have missed the mouse in our house, but I caught one outside during “last call.” Sometimes I give mom a little bitty teeny tiny problem when she wants to go back inside before I’m ready to go–but not tonight. I went willingly.

I went straight to our bedroom, and mom never saw what I had in my mouth. She must have gotten suspicious; I bet it was my playing with the mouse that made her come in the bedroom and turn on the light. I guess I was making too much noise. All I was doing was throwing it a little ways from me and then grabbing it in my mouth and throwing it again. We were just playing.

When the light came on, mom caught me with it in my mouth. She didn’t yell at first, but when I wouldn’t drop it, she got that mean and angry tone in her voice; then she yelled. I knew better than not to mind her when I hear that voice. I dropped it immediately even though I was on the bed at the time. Mom got a tissue and picked up the little worse-for-wear creature. She took it outside; I think to the garbage can.

I can’t believe she took my little playmate away. She sure knows how to take the fun out of anything.

A New and Very Loud Red Ball

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Yesterday, I was very, very good for mom when we went to PetSmart. And she made good on her promise–she found me a red (and very loud) red ball to play with.

When we got home, she finally got the ball out of the package, and gave it to me so we could play ball. I immediately ran to the front door and waited on mom. When she got there, she opened the door, and I rushed out into the big yard. She followed me. I crouched down on my front legs waiting for her to try and come get the ball, my tail wagging furiously.

She almost got up to me when I started to run, but mom stopped me. She told me that she wasn’t Kasha and for me to drop the ball. I didn’t want to, but I did. Then, mom picked it up and threw it for me. I saw where it landed, and it made all these noises (mom said the noises lasted for 10 seconds and that was all the time I had to find the ball. But, by keeping my eye on the ball, I already knew where it was, so I just ran right to it. She clapped her hands and told me that I was a very smart and clever dog. Of course, I already knew that. We did this crouch, drop the ball, throw the ball, go get the ball a few more times, and I got bored. So, the last time I got the ball, I started trotting back toward the house. Mom got the idea and followed me.

Once inside the house again, I decided to take a nap; all that running made me very tired. I don’t know what mom did, because I was asleep.
