Back to the Vet

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Those pesky little kittens are going back to see my vet tomorrow afternoon. Gosh, they are such a pain.

Instead of eating the dry food mom gives them, they spill it and then play with it. Mom gives them canned food as well, which she does not do for the rest of us. I mean, we dogs get canned food with our rice every night, but we do not get dry food. Well, Hilde does–but she is special!!!!! On the other hand, the kittens do not get rice. I’m stopping now; I’m confused.

Update on the Selmons

They are fast little critters, and they are growing so quickly. They jump and hop all around the breezeway until they get tired. Then, they all snuggle up in the new bed that mom bought them.

Did I get a new one? No!!!!

Mom stays out there with them a lot; so does Paul. You would think they had never seen kittens before. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen any kittens before. I wonder!!!!!!

Mom helped me write this.

They are a menace to me.

All they want to do is eat, sleep, and play. Mom feds them, plays with them, and sometimes watches them while they sleep. They take up too much of mom’s time; time she could be spending with me. I’m not jealous; well, maybe just a little bit. I know mom cares for them, because they were abandoned, too, and she will do whatever it takes. I heard her tell dad that she is going to keep them as long as they want to stay. You know how cats are; the grass is always greener somewhere else.

Well, they are here for the duration, and I might as well tell you what the vet said about them. First, he weighed them: each of them gained almost a pound which means they are now weigh a tad over a pound and a half. Do you know how they will weigh after a year if they gain a pound every two weeks? Absurd, if you ask me. I know mom is afraid they are not getting enough to eat, so she feeds them all the time. Everytime they want to eat, all they have to do is go to their bowl; it sits right next to their ever-filled bowl of milk. I think she is spoiling them. Second, the vet told mom they looked healthy. Third, he gave them shots and drew blood to check for a blood-borne disease; they didn’t have any. So, the little darlings don’t have to go back to the vet for a month.

What can I say? She did the same for me.
