Two Sly Ones
Sunday, March 15th, 2009There are at least two mice left in this house. I have hunted and hunted, but they keep eluding me. I will find them, though. Mom has even set the live traps with peanut butter cups in them. Apparently, they are very clever and sly, because they won’t go near them. They must sneak around after I go to bed to try and find something to eat. Truthfully, now that it’s very nice and warm outside, I have not hunted as diligently as I should have.
Warm weather, nice breeze, green grass–what else could I ask for–at least for playing weather. I do love to play. Paul took me up to the mailbox yesterday, and I minded him every time he said something to me. Our mailbox is the opposite way from the small lake out behind our house, but it’s about the same distance each way. He told me before we went that I had to mind every word or else I wouldn’t be going anywhere with him anymore, so I was on my best behavior.
I played outside almost all day today. I played with Kasha and Hilde; Wooly doesn’t play–he just watches us. Maybe he thinks he is guarding us. Who knows what a male thinks or if he thinks at all. I really like Wooly; I’m not being mean, I promise. But, sometimes he makes me crazy.
For example, when he lies right in the middle of the doorway, he expects all of us to go around. Me, I just bark until dad tells me to hush-up. Then, mom will make Wooly move so the rest of us can enter the room that he is blocking with his furry 85-pound body. I bet if mom shaved him, he would lose 10 pounds.
